Markiewicz Funeral Home is proud of their family’s long tradition of funeral service, beginning with their founder, Sam Markiewicz, who in 1890, opened his funeral home and furniture store on Main Street. His son, Vic Sr. moved the firm to their present location in 1948, operating the business until his retirement in 1975. Sam’s grandson, Vic, then purchased the business in 1975 and made major expansions and renovations in 1983 and 1992. In 2006, Matt purchased the business from Vic. Also in 2006, Matt hired the first, non-family member, full-time employee, Robert Theis. Sadly, in May of 2007, Victor R. Markiewicz passed away, after a battle with cancer.
Markiewicz Funeral Home, P.C. has a Polish speaking funeral director available to assist families upon request.
As a fourth generation funeral director, Matt is proud to serve the families of Lemont and the surrounding communities.
